Just up the road is the large beach community of San Antonio del Mar. Across the toll road from there is what we in the U.S. would call a strip mall. There's an OXXO, Mexico's 7-11, even though they have some aging 7-11s; there are OXXOs everywhere. People buy five-gallon bottles of water, pay bills, and buy snacks. Next to the OXXO is the Baja Malibu Taco Shop. Their breakfasts are good, their burgers are great, and their tacos and enchiladas are awesome. Like many places, they deliver for free. Next to the Taco Shop is Filippi's Pizza, which is also very good and very inexpensive compared to U.S. pizza. Then there's a carniceria (butcher shop) and a bar, Plan B. Some of the senior ex-pats (probably from San Antonio del Mar) were having a Christmas party when we went over last night. When we got home, we were treated to another beautiful sunset.

Today, we got up early, took our carefully planned lists for shopping and in-country phone calls (you can't call toll-free numbers in the U.S. from outside of the U.S., and sometimes toll-free is all we've got!) We pass this hostel on our way through Tijuana, and we think it looks cool.

| Crossing the border in the SENTRI lane was easy today. I obscured the plate in front of us. |
Ironically for the times, the base of each "United States" pillar is metal sculpture in which is written "Welcome" in many languages.
Upon arrival in Chula Vista, we had breakfast with Greg, whose birthday is tomorrow. He insisted on treating us. We had a nice visit, and then we went grocery shopping, and he went on an errand and to bed (as he works nights).
Target, Walmart, and Costco wore us out, so we grabbed a late lunch at McDonald's before heading back to Mexico. We had tomato and cottage cheese with romaine salad, Dave's Killer toast, virgin Margaritas, and sliced mangoes for dinner -- the perfect end to a productive day!
